yay! the time traveller's wife is out at the box office this week! i really wanted to catch the show as i thoroughly enjoyed reading the novel. nothing like having a novel coming to life on the big screen, and i admire rachel mcadams as well, but boy was it a letdown. wasted my $6!
they tried to cramp a 546pages book into 107mins and that resulted in the show losing its depth. the actors and actresses just wasnt able to bring out the personality and depth of the character. basically, they were trying to do too much in a short amount of time resulting in a mediocre film.
the time traveller's wife is about this guy who has a genetic disorder which causes him to time travel unpredictably and the ups and downs his wife has to go through. im not going to spoil the plot for an amazing novel. so everyone! just read the book! its a much better use of your time, unless of course, you have time to waste.

nice review on the movie..
ReplyDeletei shall read the book instead since u mention is a waste of money (:
wouldnt reading a book take longer than watching the movie? doesnt that make reading a book more time wasting? haha!
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with Dead Poet.Time is only wasted on things that do not enrich your mind.If the book actually makes you feel better and think more as compared to the movie which made her feel disappointed and she gained nothing...then I say reading the book is time well spent.
ReplyDeletei say watch the movie lah. the book also more expensive. ever heard of the saying, time is money? =p
ReplyDeleteI dont believe you that you reading a BOOK!!!
ReplyDeletejk..
I never heard about this book or movie..
then what have you heard of? i read it ok! hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteThe movie was awesome but, as in did not read the book. but my friend told me that alot of info were missing from the book to the movie. like the first time he time traveled.
ReplyDeleteoh well i always believe that if u watch the show don't read the book and yea.
Next up would be the sister's keeper, that i can't wait
yea same here! my sister's keeper is next on the to watch list but dude, cameron diaz?! shit man! they should have picked someone better for that role, jodie foster would have been way better as the mom, or or even lena headey terminator mom! haha!
ReplyDeleteyes, aron! pls read the book as soon as possible and return it to me! hahaha.. its really good book!
ReplyDeleteI naver heard about this book and movie both..
ReplyDeletedid you really finish reading 546pages book? lol. I will try to read this book later =)
hey.. I was actually looking forward to this movie. Yet to catch it though. But it is true that usually when good novels are translated into the big screen, it somehow tends to lose its essence, sometimes due to the lack of screen time or just substandard performance from the actor/actress.
ReplyDeleteYou know when a book becomes adapted to a movie, the advice I ALWAYS hear from people is to always read the book first. Because the book is more in-depth, you can really paint a picture of what is happening and it is not condensed into 90 or so mins.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong I LOVE MOVIES but books should also be given a chance. Unfortunately it's becoming an obsolete form of communication in recent times!
I've yet to watch the movie (and I STILL want to) but I guess I should lower my expectations a little!
I guess the main problem faced by the producer was the time contraint that they had. Thus, they might have failed to capture the more important aspects of the book. However, different people have different preferences and the movie may appeal to people who are more visual, and prefer to see things rather than to read. I have not watched the movie yet, but I personally prefer reading to watching. thanks for the advice given!
